PEC5013 - Evaluating Policy & Practice

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 Demonstrate an understanding of how change within the children’s workforce has been led by legislation and key national, regional and local arrangements
2 Evaluate the current National Children's Plan and the practical arrangements which have been developed
3 Reflect on how local strategy and policy impacts on their own practice

Content:

Knowledge: Children’s workforce structures ie. Children’s commissioner, Directors of children’s services etc. and their roles and responsibilities within the extended services framework

Reflection: The management of change brought about by workforce reform, multi agency working etc.

Application: Reflect on their own role and how far their practice reflects policy for the extended children’s services including the Common Core of knowledge and skills for the children’s workforce

Learning and Teaching Information:

Learning will take place in interactive sessions incorporating theoretical input, discussion, debate, ICT research and student presentation. Students will be supported by VLE materials, constructed reading and research tasks and workshop sessions.
