MBS3115 - Dissertation

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 demonstrate expert knowledge of and scholarship within a specialised aspect of business
2 design, conduct and report a research project on a topic of their choice demonstrating self–direction and originality
3 present their work in a manner appropriate for postgraduate research
4 critically reflect upon current research and their contribution to the field of study

Content:

The dissertation provides the opportunity for students to undertake a piece of original research that demonstrates, and further enhances, their research skills. Given the variety of potential dissertation topics, a "standard" curriculum is not possible. However, it is expected that dissertations will be based on "real world" business issues and will therefore involve the integration of theoretical and practical knowledge. Students will normally conduct research in line with the proposal that they framed in MBS 3105. With support from their allocated supervisors they will select, apply and refine suitable research methods, draw appropriate conclusions and recommendations from their investigations and present their findings in a clear and unambiguous manner.
