MBM2205 - E-Commerce

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 understand and explain key terminology and apply the main principles of business models used within an e-commerce environment
2 analyse and critically evaluate the technical issues involved in the creation and upkeep of an e-commerce system
3 analyse and assess the issues affecting and needs of internet-related customers and clients

Content:

The module provides insight to the technical and production issues surrounding the launch and maintenance of an e-commerce web site. The module then explores generic e-business topics such as pricing strategies, privacy and security issues, market research, e-marketing and communication methods. As well as learning general principles students will examine a series of case studies based upon existing web-based companies.

Learning and Teaching Information:

A two hour teaching block is used each week and is comprised of a formal presentation followed by issues for discussion, examination of case studies etc to reinforce practical application of lecture material.
