FYP4002 - Developing Professional Practice and Learning Skills

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1 Express an understanding of the importance of skills development
2 Demonstrate an emerging understanding of the application of theory into practice
3 Review their current skills level and create meaningful personal skills development plans
4 Express an understanding of work based learning and place themselves within the WBL environment.

Content:

This module acts as an introductory module to the foundation degrees so as to develop within students an understanding of work based learning rationale and practices.

Students will review their abilities across the six transferable skills, develop their own skills and identify aspects of their work practices that meet these skill areas.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Learning will be through a range of lectures, workshops and tutorials. Students will be expected to draw on a range of sources including their own working experiences. Group discussion and tasks will form a significant proportion of the College based learning to develop relevant analytical skills. Students will record their development within a Personal Development Log.
