SHN5672 - Physiology of Training I & II

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module the students will be able to:

(1) demonstrate an understanding of physiological changes which occur with regular exercise;
(2) utilise physiological training principles in the planning of training programmes;
(3) demonstrate oral presentation skills;
(4) explain the influence of age and gender on exercise performance and the benefits of exercise training on overcoming some of the physiological deficits associated with ageing;
(5) demonstrate an understanding of the effects of training prior to and during pregnancy;
(6) conduct and report experimental studies.

Content:

Principles of training and their applications of training for endurance, speed, strength, flexibility.
