On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
(1) Demonstrate an understanding of principles of experimental design;
(2) Indentify ethical considerations in research;
(3) Undertake preliminary data analysis;
(4) Present descriptive data in tabular and graphical form;
(5) Critically appraise report writing style;
(6) Demonstrate and understanding of the relationship between the structure and function of the musculo-skeletal system;
(7) Demonstrate an understanding of the functions of the respitory and cardiovascular systemsm during exercise and recovery.
Principles of experimental and non-experimental design; ethical considerations in research. Parametric and non-parametric data. Descriptive statistics; choosing and executing statistical test to include correlation, regression, t-tests and chi-square. Presentation of data to include graphs, charts and tables. Structure and function of the musculo-skeletal system. Energy metabolism during exercise. The respitory system, endocrine system, and the haemodynamic response to exercise. Reseach report writing and format.
