PSY6114 - Major Research Project

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1. Perform a literature search in one area of Psychology
2. Design an original research project within that area having regard to principles of good design and ethics
3. Collect and analyze research data
4. Write a research report in the style of published research papers in Psychology
5. Communicate research design methodology, results, and the implications of findings in a presentation to fellow students.

Content:

This module provides an opportunity for students to complete an original research project in an area of psychology which is of particular interest of them. It forms the culmination of the various research methods modules / module elements which have preceded it. Students may choose any research method appropriate to the particular area of enquiry.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Students will work independently for much of the time but supervisors will be available at time tabled hours to give intensive guidance in the initial process and later, in the analysis and interpretation of the data and preparation of the report.
