On successful completion of the module, students will be able to to:
1. Demonstrate a systematic understanding of the range and scope of online communication in an organisational context;
2. demonstrate a critical understanding of the benefits and problems associated with the use of online communication as a communication tool for government;
3. criticall evaluate the current 'state of the art' in online communication and its implication for strategic planning within government.
This module will provide and overview of the development and use of online communications generally and within political and public communication. Content will reflect current developments such as podcasting, blogs and RSS newsfeeds and evaluate the implications for democracy, strategic communication and strategic management of organisations.
Taught accross two days with seminars provided by 'inhouse' staff and speakers from relevant governmental and other organizations.
