On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1 Formulate hypotheses and a strategy for testing such hypotheses within their own profession or the multi agency environment
2 Undertake a critical literature review relevant to the chosen area of investigation.
3 Undertake a systematic collection of appropriate data for the testing of the hypothesis using appropriate research methodologies
4 Critically analyse and evaluate the data results of the investigation and present conclusions appropriately
Drawing on the research carried out for the PG Diploma and draft research proposal, students will be required to develop a research project related to an aspect of multi-agency working, children’s services, integrated services, extended schools or coaching and mentoring.
The research report will include literature review, data collection, analysis and evaluation.
The dissertation is a non-taught, self-managed module with supervisory tutorials on an individual basis. Students will have created a research proposal as part of the PG Diploma stage, which has to be approved prior to engagement with the dissertation. Students will maintain regular contact with supervising tutors via Moodle, which will include generic research and literature review advice and group conferencing opportunities.
