Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1 demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the techniques employed by public relations as part of marketing and corporate communication
2 demonstrate knowledge of the practice of public relations
3 work as a member of a team to create a public relations programme / campaign 2
4 work as a member of a team to pitch a PR proposal 2

Content:

The module examines the practical aspects of PR: the techniques and methods used by industry professionals as part of marketing and corporate communication. It addresses practical techniques such as release writing, press conferences, media relations and events. Exploration of the recent developments in PR include guerilla marketing, online PR and the role of social networking sites for promotional purposes.

002 Portfolio 1 x 2000 word equivalent (end of sem 2) 50%
