On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1 Demonstrate an awareness of key legislation related to children, young people and families
2 Analyse the roles and responsibilities of those working with children, young people and families
3 Debate key issues related to children’s rights and those of adults and family members.
In this module students will gain an understanding of key legislation related to children, young people and families. They will be expected to relate legislation to roles and responsibilities of those working in the multi agency environment. Also students will identify, research and debate key issues relating to individual’s rights and perspectives on the legal framework.
Learning will be through a range of lectures, workshops and tutorials. Students will be expected to draw on a range of sources including their own working experiences. Group discussion and tasks will form a significant proportion of the College based learning to develop relevant analytical skills. Students will record their development within a Personal Development Log.
