FYP5012 - Evaluating Theory and Practice

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1) Identify an aspect of interest related to their professional development to create a research focus
2) Analyse the theory relevant to the research focus and the specific aspect to research
3) Carry out a small scale research investigation including gathering data and relating this to the theoretical context
4) Relate the research findings to their personal and professional development plans

Content:

This module provides an ideal opportunity to prepare for Level 3 study.

Students will be able to pursue an area of personal interest, whilst developing research skills and the ability to relate theory to practice. They will develop their reflective practitioner skills through identifying how the research project relates to their own professional circumstances and development.

Learning and Teaching Information:

This module will be mainly self-managed with some introductory lectures on research methodology, followed by individual tutorials to develop particular areas of interest.
