FWB5012 - Enhacing Well-Being: Working with Groups

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of behaviour change theory and process as related to groups
2. enable individuals and groups to develop their knowledge and skills about health and well-being
3. Facilitate group work activities including planning and evaluating session outcomes.

Content:

Behaviour change and social influences; working with groups - exploring attitudes and knowledge, decision balance and goal setting techniques, relapse prevention; personal action planning; self evaluation of group work competencies. Negotiation of group objectives in relation to corporate and employer needs. Communication and presentation skills necessary for effective interactions with groups.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Blend of lecture-led sessions supported by seminars and tutorials.
Independent study to include research, reading and weekly work-based learning tasks.
Documenting and evaluating specific issues and challenges found within working with groups.
