FWB4032 - Contemporary Issues in Workplace Wellbeing

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate contemporary knowledge of workplace wellbeing
2. Relate large-scale issues to their specific experience of the workplace
3. Reflect on how knowledge of contemporary issues will inform their own practice and promotion of workplace wellbeing.

Content:

Consideration and exploration of contemporary issues in workplace wellbeing, including:
Muscular Skeletal Disorders; Lower Back Pain; Workplace Ergonomics; Healthy Weight Management; Disordered Eating; Stress; Depression and Anxiety;
Financial health checks- household budgeting; Sleep and health;
Smoking cessation; Alcohol and Drug Abuse; Work/worklessness and health;
Strategic Planning to embed wellbeing – active transport, hydration, sustainability.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Blend of lecture-led sessions supported by seminars and tutorials.
Independent study to include research, reading and weekly work-based learning tasks.
Documenting and evaluating within personal learning journal.
