FWB4012 - Enhancing Wellbeing: Working with Individuals

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of behaviour change theory and process
2. Enable individuals to develop their knowledge and skills about health and well-being
3. Assist individuals to assess how their behaviour is affecting their health and well-being, identify their motivation for change and explore opportunities and barriers to change
4. Evaluate their skills of motivational interviewing in exploring and supporting behaviour change.

Content:

Behaviour change models; working with individuals – motivational interviewing, exploring attitudes and knowledge, decision balance and goal setting techniques, relapse prevention; personal action planning; self evaluation of health trainer competencies.

Learning and Teaching Information:

Blend of lecture-led sessions supported by seminars and tutorials.
Independent study to include research, reading and weekly work-based learning tasks.
Documenting and evaluating within personal learning journal.
