On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1. demonstrate knowledge and understanding of wellbeing in the workplace setting
2. show analysis of wellbeing needs in the workplace and design and justify a series of cost-effective interventions
3. Evaluate and rank-order the wellbeing needs of the workplace
4. Demonstrate the development of appropriate study skills
Module content will be drawn from: definitions of wellbeing; key interactions in wellbeing – i) personal, ii) workplace, iii) wider environment; Examples of good practice; Definitive publications – Wanless, Leitch, Foresight, Black. Burden of proof – data collection and interpretation, Monitoring effect - affect and financial; Wellbeing needs and employer objectives. The metrics of workplace wellbeing. Disability awareness and equity. Stakeholders in workplace wellbeing, interactions of perspectives; employers, employees, trades unions, occupational health, public health, GPs and the NHS. This module will also support learners to gain confidence in appropriate study skills and reflective learning; in particular the completion of a reflective journal will link to reflection upon the learning objectives of individual sessions, applied learning tasks and module objectives.
Blend of lecture-led sessions supported by seminars and tutorials.
Independent study to include research, reading and weekly work-based learning tasks.
Documenting and evaluating within personal learning journal.
