FSL5182 - Higher Level Teaching Assistant Preparation 2

Objectives:

On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:

(1) demonstrate a broad knowledge and critical understanding of the principles of the current workforce reform
(2) demonstrate an understanding of the way in which, and the reasons why, these reforms have been developed and implemented
(3) critically analyse the impact of these reforms on personal and professional practice
(4) demonstrate an ability to effectively communicate information and analysis through presenting written reflective tasks concerning activities carried out in school which demonstrate and evaluate personal competence in relation to the HLTA standards
(5) identify and present evidence which appropriately demonstrates their own ability in relation to the HLTA standards

Content:

- Knowledge of relevant research and historical perspective
- Investigation and understanding of influences currently affecting their own workplace
- Familiarity with the HLTA standards
- Exploration of evidence-based assessment strategies and identification of appropriate evidence
- Opportunities to reflect on their own role and competence in relation to the given standards
- Development of reflective and evaluative writing skills.

Learning and Teaching Information:

At Level 5 it is expected that students will know and understand the essential mechanics of HE study and be able to work more independently in resourcing and researching their learning. Work at Level 6 will emphasize the application and analysis of theory and develop the skills of critical reasoning.
In particular this module will use practical workshops to enable students to develop their personal linguistic skills

001 Written descriptions of three activities. 1 x 2000 words 50%
