On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1)Analyse the role of Personnel / HRM in an educational establishment
2) Review and evaluate appointment and induction systems, performance management procedures, professional development training systems, grievance and disciplinary procedures
3)Reflect on ethical issues arising from the application of HR procedures
4) Construct oral arguments, which incorporate knowledge of existing theory or research, policy and practice in human resource management

Pay and reward policies, evaluating performance
Training and its effectiveness in the workplace and identifying opportunities for training and development
The management of employee relations, grievance procedures, equality and diversity considerations, the role of trade unions
Learning will be through a range of lectures, workshops and tutorials. Students will be expected to draw on a range of sources including their own working experiences. Group discussion and tasks will form a significant proportion of the College based learning to develop relevant analytical skills. Students will record their development within a Personal Development Log.
