On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1) Analyse their own and others communication skills
2) Evaluate the importance of leadership within organisations
3) Evaluate a variety of contributing processes to organisational effectiveness
4) Review the principles of change management
This module will focus on:
Communication in the workplace
The nature of leadership and its significance within teams and organisations
Organisational power, politics and negotiation
Decision making and organisational effectiveness
Managing change
In addressing the above, participants will:
Identify relevant practical issues in their own places of work
Compare and contrast their experiences with those of others
Relate their practical experience to theoretical perspectives
Use these perspectives to develop a broader understanding of their place of work
The module seeks to explore the effectiveness of individual contributions to a range of critical organisational processes.
At Level 5 it is expected that students will know and understand the essential mechanics of HE study and be able to work more independently in resourcing and researching their learning. Work at Level 5 will emphasise the application and analysis of theory and develop the skills of critical reasoning.
A key teaching and learning strategy used in this module will be group activities.
