On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:
1. Demonstrate an understanding of key theories relating to learning from birth to adulthood.
2. Begin to evaluate inhibitors to learning and ideal learning conditions.
3. Reflect on thier own learning development and compare this to the theories.
4. Explore modern learning issues such as the use of modern technologies, lifelong learning and personalisation.
This module will include:
Development of an understanding of learning theory: behaviourism, cognitive, constructivism, Multiple Intelligences, learning styles
Learning developments: curricula, Early Years to lifelong learning strategies
Learning contexts and inhibitors to learning
Personal learning experiences and planning for learning
Learning will take place in interactive sessions incorporating theoretical input, discussion, debate ICT research and student presentation. Students will be supported by VLE materials, constructed reading and research tasks and workshop sessions.
