On successful completion of the module, students will be able to:\
(1) Prepare an effective CV and adhere to appropriate recruitment and selection procedures;
(2) Reflect on personal strengths and weaknesses and prepare an action plan in relation to these;
(3) Analyse the aims, structure and procedures of a specific organisation;
(4) Apply knowledge and skills in the workplace and perform to a satisfactory standard.
A professional development programme comprising:
(1) introduction to Professional Development Planning and Placements
(2) Day conferences, one in each semester, including:
- CV drafting and presentation
- Interviewing skills (including role play)
- Career, career entry, sector and job analysis
- Briefings on EPO procedures and arranging own placements
(3) Interview with Placement Tutor
Placement with suitable organisation(s), normally six weeks in total
Reflection and evaluation on the placement.
Tutor-led group discussion amongst Progress Tutees.
Day conferences: presentations and briefings, discussions, workshops and practical activities (role play, drafting and writing) relating to the requirements of the Preparatory Portfolio.
Individual tutorials with Placement Tutor/Progress Tutor before the placement starts.
